Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever has been unanimously named the 2024 Associated Press WNBA Rookie of the Year, according to an announcement made today. This accolade comes after Clark was recognized as a four-time WNBA Rookie of the Month and a three-time WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week, as well as the Player of the Month in August. She now joins Aliyah Boston as the only Fever players to receive the AP Rookie of the Year honor.

In addition, Clark earned a spot on the AP All-WNBA First Team alongside notable players such as Napheesa Collier, Breanna Stewart, Alyssa Thomas, and A’ja Wilson. She was also selected for the AP All-Rookie Team, which includes Kamilla Cardoso, Leonie Fiebich, Rickea Jackson, and Angel Reese.

Clark had a stellar debut season, starting all 40 regular-season games for the Fever, and she made significant contributions, setting numerous WNBA records. She led all rookies in several statistical categories, including scoring (19.2 points per game), field goals made (242), three-point field goals made (122), assists (8.4 per game), steals (1.3 per game), and average minutes played (35.4 per game). Remarkably, she also topped the entire league in assists and three-point field goals made.

Highlighting her remarkable performance, Clark scored a total of 769 points, making it the highest for any rookie in WNBA history, as well as the most points in a single season for a point guard. Her assists total of 337 also broke the previous single-season record of 316. Furthermore, Clark recorded the most double-digit scoring games (35) by a rookie and set the record for the most double-doubles (14) for both a rookie and in franchise history.

She made history as the first rookie ever in the WNBA to achieve a triple-double and was also the first player in Fever history to do so. In a game against the Dallas Wings on July 17, Clark set a record by dishing out 19 assists, the highest in a single game in WNBA history. Additionally, she achieved a franchise record by recording 12 games with at least 10 assists.

Clark made her WNBA All-Star debut on July 20, becoming only the third rookie in franchise history to start an All-Star game. During her time in the game, she recorded a remarkable 10 assists, tying for the second-highest in All-Star game history. Notably, Clark garnered the most All-Star Game votes ever in the WNBA, with a total of 700,735 votes.
