Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Local Government, Filimoni Vosarogo, announced that the Cabinet has officially designated the winner of the Miss Fiji Pageant as Fiji’s representative for the upcoming Miss Pacific Islands Pageant. This decision is anticipated to be upheld by the organizers of the Miss Fiji Pageant (MFP).

In a statement released recently, Vosarogo stressed the essential nature of adhering to Cabinet decisions, asserting, “It needs to be understood that when Cabinet makes a decision on a matter, the expectation that such decision will be respected must follow.” He emphasized that all associated processes, including logistics and contractual agreements, must align with the Cabinet’s directive, which he characterized as a vital element of government decision-making.

He also pointed out the role of public funding in these events, emphasizing the need to maintain public trust. Fiji is set to host the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP) in 2026, marking the first time the event has returned to the nation in seven years.

The Fijian Government has allocated $198,000 for both the Miss Fiji Pageant and the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant through a Service Agreement signed on December 3, 2025. This funding was confirmed after the Cabinet reviewed a proposal from the Ministry of Local Government & Housing in October 2025.

Hosting the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant is expected to enhance cultural exchange, boost local tourism, and showcase Fiji’s exceptional beauty on an international platform. This event not only aims to celebrate the artistry and culture of the Pacific but also to reinforce Fiji’s position within the region as a host for significant cultural events. Such initiatives promise to strengthen community ties and promote appreciation for local heritage.
