The Cincinnati Bengals find themselves in a more promising position as the season progresses, especially after their recent victory against the Cowboys, which helped sustain their playoff ambitions. Following the game, quarterback Joe Burrow shared an uplifting perspective regarding receiver Tee Higgins’ future with the franchise.
Higgins is currently playing under the franchise tag, after failing to secure a contract extension with the Bengals in the previous offseason. Nevertheless, Burrow expressed optimism that the situation will improve moving forward, stating, “We don’t know, but those discussions are ongoing. I’m confident that I think we’re gonna be able to do what it takes to bring Tee back.”
Burrow indicated that both he and Higgins are committed to returning to Cincinnati and look forward to addressing this topic in the offseason. Higgins has also conveyed a desire to remain with the Bengals, noting that he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of extending his stay in Cincinnati.
When asked about the feasibility of keeping both Burrow and fellow wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase alongside Higgins, he admitted that the decision rests with the management, saying, “I’ve got no clue.”
Chase currently leads the NFL with 15 touchdown receptions and is expected to command a significant contract himself. Meanwhile, Higgins is projected to have a market value of $18.8 million annually over five years—an attractive figure for a player of his talent.
With a record of being a two-time 1,000-yard receiver, Higgins joined Burrow in the 2020 draft class, and both players have been pivotal in the franchise’s evolution from struggling at the bottom to competing as a robust contender in the AFC. Burrow emphasized Higgins’ impact saying, “You feel his presence when he’s out there,” highlighting how Higgins not only draws attention from defenses but also makes his teammates more effective.
For Bengals fans concerned about Higgins potentially departing the team, there is now reason for optimism. With Higgins keen on remaining with the team and Burrow dedicated to making that happen, the future looks increasingly bright for the Bengals as they work to solidify their roster for continued success.
