Bula FC to Field National Team Stars as Fiji Eyes OFC Professional League Debut

The newly established Bula FC will showcase a formidable roster primarily composed of current Fiji national men’s team players, as noted by head coach Stéphane Auvray. In his dual role overseeing both Bula FC and the national team, Auvray will have the opportunity to assess talent in preparation for the upcoming MSG Prime Minister’s Cup, scheduled for later this month. This tournament serves as a critical platform for evaluating players ahead of Bula FC’s inaugural season in the OFC Professional League.

Acting CEO Anushil Kumar emphasized that Auvray’s position will streamline the transition for 17 selected national team players into Bula FC, promoting continuity and cohesion within the club. The squad is expected to comprise 17 local players alongside three from other OFC nations and four international players, creating a competitive mix aimed at making a strong impact in the league.

Bula FC, based in Ba, will utilize the training facilities at the Fiji FA Academy grounds as well as the 4R Stadium when it’s available. Kumar confirmed that the full squad will be announced following the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup, which is set to take place from November 10 to 22.

This development is significant in the context of Fijian football, aligning with the optimistic trajectory marked by the establishment of Bula Boys FC, which also aims to professionalize the sport in Fiji. This dual emergence of professional clubs is expected to elevate not only the standards of football in the region but also to inspire a renewed interest among young athletes as the local football scene gears up for higher levels of competition.

The establishment of a professional league represents a transformative opportunity for Fijian football, providing a clear pathway for talent while fostering community engagement and excitement. As the league approaches, the anticipation surrounding Bula FC suggests a bright future for football in Fiji, with the potential to uplift the local talent and contribute to a rich sporting legacy.
