Bula FC to Field National Team Stars as Fiji Eyes OFC Professional League Debut

Bula FC Bets on Fiji’s National Team Stars Ahead of OFC Pro League Debut

Bula FC, the newly formed football club in Fiji, is set to feature a strong lineup primarily consisting of players from the current national men’s team, according to head coach Stéphane Auvray. Auvray’s dual role as the head coach for both Bula FC and the national team will allow him to evaluate talent effectively ahead of the upcoming MSG Prime Minister’s Cup, taking place later this month. This tournament is crucial for assessing players before Bula FC embarks on its inaugural season in the OFC Professional League.

Acting CEO Anushil Kumar highlighted that Auvray’s leadership will facilitate a smoother integration for 17 national team players into Bula FC, fostering continuity and teamwork within the club. The squad is anticipated to include 17 local players, three from other OFC nations, and four international players, creating a diverse and competitive roster aimed at making a significant impact in the league.

Bula FC, located in Ba, will train at the Fiji FA Academy grounds and make use of the 4R Stadium when available. Kumar stated that the complete squad would be announced after the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup, scheduled from November 10 to 22.

The emergence of Bula FC is an important milestone for Fijian football, following the establishment of Bula Boys FC, both aimed at enhancing the professionalism of the sport in Fiji. This rise in professional clubs is expected to elevate football standards in the region and spark renewed interest among aspiring young athletes as the local football landscape prepares for more competitive play.

The introduction of a professional league heralds a transformative chance for Fijian football, allowing for a clear pathway for local talent while also encouraging community involvement and enthusiasm. As Bula FC’s first season approaches, the excitement surrounding the team indicates a promising future for football in Fiji, with the potential to uplift local players and build a rich sporting legacy.
