Extra Bula FC is facing a tough hurdle this weekend as defender Gabriele Matanisiga will miss the OFC Pro League Round Three match against Vanuatu United due to a back injury. This significant match is set to unfold in Melbourne on Sunday.
Head coach Stephane Auvray shared the disappointing news of Matanisiga’s injury but also pointed to a positive aspect: three other players are recovering and set to return to the squad. Auvray remarked, “We have one injury; one player is out; three players are coming back from injury. It’s part of the life of a club, you know, of a season. You always have to juggle between the injuries and try to make the best out of it.”
Understanding the difficult reality injuries can bring during a long season, Auvray remains hopeful about this situation providing opportunities for other players to shine. “It’s good for some players. It gives them a chance to show what they can do as well,” he explained.
Among those returning to fitness is Ryan Naresh, who had previously displayed great potential before his injury while in New Zealand. Additionally, young midfielder Veleni Rasorewa is making strides in his recovery, and Delon Shankar is also steadily progressing after a significant absence of two to three months.
Despite these injury challenges, Bula FC is committed to staying competitive as they prepare for this crucial Round Three encounter. The highly anticipated match against Vanuatu United will kick off at 2 pm this Sunday and will be broadcast live on FBC 2, allowing fans to rally behind their team during this pivotal moment in the season.
