As the first season of the OFC Pro League approaches, Bula FC is preparing for the new challenge with realistic expectations, prioritizing player development and learning over immediate success. As Fiji’s first professional football club, head coach Stephane Auvary emphasizes that the main objective for the upcoming season is to gain essential exposure and experience against higher levels of competition.
Auvary acknowledges that Bula FC might not be listed among the top contenders within the league, yet he stresses the importance of player growth throughout the season. He believes that the experiences garnered during this inaugural campaign will lay a strong foundation for the club’s future aspirations.
“This first season is going to be a discovery, a learning phase for the players. We will not be pretentious to say that we are going to play our games and hope to make it to the finals and be the best team in the league. We know there are teams that have existed for a longer time and are more structured. We are in the initial phase, and I hope the players will learn a lot over the next five months,” Auvary remarked.
The experienced coach has advised his team to maintain a grounded perspective, observing that the OFC Pro League represents a new level of challenge compared to their past endeavors. As the excitement builds ahead of the league’s kickoff on January 17, Bula FC looks to transform its determination and resilience into long-term success, fostering a competitive spirit that could ultimately benefit the club in the years to come.
