Traveling from the picturesque highlands of Namosi to the vibrant region of Vanua Levu, the Bula Brothers rugby team is heading to the 17th Fiji Bitter Savusavu 7s with aspirations beyond mere competition. This youthful squad is eager to make a significant mark on the rugby field as they take on some of Fiji’s most seasoned sevens teams.
Team manager Ratu Pio Camaisala expressed heartfelt gratitude toward their sponsors in Australia and the unwavering support from the players’ families, underscoring how crucial this support has been for the team’s endeavor. “This trip would not have been possible without our sponsors overseas and the families who have supported the boys from day one,” Camaisala stated.
He emphasized that participating in the tournament represents an invaluable learning experience for the Bula Brothers, who are still working to establish themselves in the national sevens scene. Camaisala encouraged his players to approach their matches with confidence, saying, “I told the boys not to be frightened to play against big teams like the Devo Young Babas.” He acknowledged that, despite being newcomers, this tournament is a benchmark for their growth and development.
Regardless of the results they encounter during the tournament, Camaisala remains optimistic that the knowledge and skills acquired in Savusavu will be vital in shaping the Bula Brothers’ rugby journey. This adventure, laden with opportunities for improvement, signifies a promising stride forward for this up-and-coming team, embodying the essence of sportsmanship and resilience as they forge their identity in the world of rugby.
