The top-ranked Mountain View Buffalos continued their unbeaten streak with a solid 35-5 victory over the fifth-ranked Worland Warriors on Friday night. With this win, the Buffalos improved to 7-0, solidifying their status as the team to beat in Wyoming 2A football.

Mountain View kicked off the scoring with a 13-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Justus Platts to receiver Isac Linford early in the first quarter. Just minutes later, Platts added to the lead with a 2-yard rushing touchdown, putting the Buffalos ahead 14-0.

The Buffalos’ defense stepped up next, with Landon Solaas executing a strip sack that set Mountain View up at the Warriors’ 30-yard line. However, the drive stalled, and a field goal attempt was missed due to windy conditions, giving possession back to Worland.

Struggling offensively, Worland was penalized, pushing them back into their own territory. Mountain View took advantage of this situation by forcing a fumble in the end zone, which they recovered for a defensive touchdown, increasing their lead to 21-0 with just over two minutes left in the first quarter.

Worland managed to score on the last play of the quarter, benefiting from a safety after Mountain View was flagged for intentional grounding in their own end zone, bringing the score to 21-2.

In the second quarter, Mountain View continued to dominate. Platts rushed for a 26-yard touchdown, extending the Buffalos’ lead to 28-2 at halftime.

The second half saw both defenses tighten up, but Platts and Linford connected for another touchdown, this time a 10-yard pass, ending the third quarter with a score of 35-2.

Worland added a field goal in the fourth quarter, but it was insufficient to overcome the Buffalos’ strong defense as the game concluded with a 35-5 final score.

Platts led the offense with 16 carries for 53 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He also completed 15 of 22 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns. Brendon Walker contributed 32 yards on 10 carries, while Levi Jones added 19 yards on five carries.

In receiving, Kolby Roitz had five receptions for 99 yards, Linford recorded four catches for 55 yards and two touchdowns, and Brockton Walker added four receptions for 62 yards.

Isac Linford was named TRN Media’s Player of the Game for his two touchdown receptions and key defensive plays, playing a crucial role in limiting Worland to just 31 yards passing.
