MOUNTAIN VIEW — The Mountain View Buffalos, currently ranked first, continued their unbeaten streak with a commanding 35-5 win over the fifth-ranked Worland Warriors on Friday night. This victory boosted the Buffalos’ record to 7-0, solidifying their position as a formidable contender in Wyoming 2A football.
The scoring started early for Mountain View, with quarterback Justus Platts connecting with receiver Isac Linford on a 13-yard touchdown pass just ten minutes into the first quarter. Platts quickly followed that with a 2-yard rushing touchdown, putting the Buffalos ahead 14-0.
The defense was quick to make its mark as well, highlighted by Landon Solaas’ strip sack, which positioned Mountain View at Worland’s 30-yard line. However, the drive stalled and a field goal attempt went wide, giving the ball back to Worland.
Worland faced difficulties on offense, compounded by a penalty that pushed them back into their own territory. The Buffalos capitalized on this misfortune, forcing a fumble in the end zone that they recovered for a defensive touchdown, extending their lead to 21-0 with just over two minutes left in the first quarter.
Worland managed to score in the closing moments of the quarter after Mountain View was penalized for intentional grounding in their end zone, resulting in a safety that made the score 21-2 as the second quarter began.
Mountain View maintained their dominance in the second quarter, with Platts dashing for a 26-yard touchdown run, bringing the halftime score to 28-2.
The second half saw a tightening of defenses, but Platts and Linford connected again with a 10-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter, raising the score to 35-2.
Worland managed to score a field goal in the fourth quarter, but it hardly altered the outcome, with Mountain View’s defense remaining strong, concluding the game at 35-5.
Platts was instrumental in the offense, recording 53 yards and two rushing touchdowns on 16 carries, alongside completing 15 of 22 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns. Brendon Walker and Levi Jones contributed with 32 yards on 10 carries and 19 yards on five carries, respectively.
In the receiving game, Kolby Roitz led with five catches for 99 yards, while Linford recorded four catches for 55 yards and two touchdowns. Brockton Walker added four receptions for 62 yards.
Isac Linford was named the Player of the Game by TRN Media, not only for his two touchdown receptions but also for his key defensive contributions, which helped limit Worland to just 31 yards through the air.
