Coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes made a strong statement in the Big 12 Conference with a dominant 34-7 victory over Arizona at Arizona Stadium. This performance followed a competitive showing against a leading league team the previous week, signifying the team’s growing strength, particularly on the road.

The game was notable for the absence of star player Travis Hunter, who returned from a shoulder injury last week but only participated in the first half. During that time, he recorded two receptions for 17 yards before exiting, leaving Colorado with a secure 28-7 halftime lead.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders led Colorado with an impressive 23 completions on 33 attempts for 250 yards, including two touchdown passes. The Buffaloes’ defense was also a force, achieving seven sacks and limiting Arizona to just one touchdown in the first quarter.

With this win, Colorado’s record improved to 3-1 in the Big 12 and 5-2 overall, surpassing last year’s win total in Sanders’ debut season. The victory places them one win away from bowl eligibility, with five games left in the regular season. Their next matchup is scheduled against Cincinnati.

Arizona’s record dropped to 3-4 as they faced off before a crowd of over 50,000. Notably, star receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who was among the nation’s leading players in receiving yards, struggled with only five catches for 38 yards.

Colorado’s defense was led by linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green, who totaled eight tackles and one sack. In the final moments of the game, backup quarterback Ryan Staub orchestrated a scoring drive following an interception, culminating in a field goal that extended the Buffaloes’ lead to 34-7.

Throughout the game, Colorado displayed dominance, including scoring on its first three possessions. Sanders showcased his skills, connecting on multiple passes while establishing a strong offensive rhythm.

Travis Hunter had previously made a significant impact in the game and caught a crucial pass to help extend a scoring drive. Unfortunately, he did not return for the second half after slightly aggravating his shoulder injury.

Arizona dealt with injury woes as well, losing leading tackler Jacob Manu early in the first half due to a knee injury. His absence was felt as Arizona struggled to keep up with Colorado’s pace and execution.

As the first half concluded with a 28-7 score, Colorado demonstrated confidence and control, setting the tone for a strong outing against their conference rival.
