Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes faced their first road challenge of the season against Nebraska in Lincoln, but the game did not go as planned. The Cornhuskers secured a convincing victory, defeating Colorado 28-10.
Quarterback Shedeur Sanders struggled throughout the game, getting sacked five times and eventually leaving the field with an undisclosed injury. Ryan Staub came in as a substitute but fumbled the ball within a minute of his arrival.
Colorado’s offense, which had a tough time scoring, finally found the end zone in the fourth quarter. Shedeur Sanders led a six-play, 58-yard drive, culminating in a five-yard touchdown pass to LaJohntay Wester, bringing the score to 28-10 with 8:40 remaining.
At halftime, the score was 28-0 in favor of Nebraska. Colorado’s struggles continued when kicker Jace Feely missed a field goal attempt as the half ended, highlighting the team’s offensive woes.
Earlier in the game, Colorado’s Alejandro Mata had a 29-yard field goal attempt blocked, keeping the Buffs scoreless until the third quarter when Mata managed a 27-yard field goal that put Colorado on the board at 28-3.
Injury updates were also a concern for Colorado. Safety Shilo Sanders left the game early with what head coach Deion Sanders suspected to be a broken forearm.
Despite the loss, the game drew attention from NFL scouts, with representatives from seven teams in attendance, interested in Colorado’s top prospects, including quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way player Travis Hunter.
The match between the Cornhuskers and the Buffaloes was particularly notable in the historic rivalry, with Nebraska leading the all-time series. Colorado had entered the game aiming for a fourth consecutive win against Nebraska, but it was the Cornhuskers who continued their dominance in the series.
