The Buffalo Bandits are thrilled to announce a partnership with Seneca Resorts & Casinos to host Native American Heritage Night during their home game against the Philadelphia Wings on Saturday, February 7. This event aims to honor and celebrate Indigenous heritage in Western New York while recognizing the historical roots of lacrosse, a sport developed by Native American tribes dating back to the 12th century.

Fans attending the game can look forward to a variety of special features. The Bandits will wear unique jerseys created by forward Clay Scanlan, who is a member of the Seneca Nation. The commemorative jerseys, which will be auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting youth lacrosse programs in Allegany, Newtown, Tonawanda, and Tuscarora, will showcase significant elements including two wampum belts symbolizing the Unity of the Six Nations – the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and Tuscarora, indicating the importance of fraternity and strength.

Additionally, the event will include a variety of exciting activities. Fans can visit the Seneca Resorts & Casinos stand on the West Wing of the 100 Level to enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a luxury suite for the upcoming Fan Appreciation Night on April 11. Another highlight will be the display of a custom-designed Bandits lacrosse head by Zayne Blacksnake, with one lucky winner leaving the event with this unique item.

A ceremonial faceoff will feature Allie George, chairman of the board of directors at Seneca Gaming and a proud member of the Seneca Nation’s Wolf Clan. George, who has a vested interest in supporting local youth sports, will be honored during this special night.

Music and entertainment will be a key component of the evening as well. Layla Seneca will perform the U.S. and Canadian anthems before the game, accompanied by the Iroquois Post 1587 Color Guard. Further entertainment includes performances by Gaëni:yo’s Singers & Dancers, LLC and the Jeremy Keyes Band, along with DJ Philip Rotschild.

The celebration doesn’t end after the game; fans are invited to a postgame party at Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino. This event will allow fans to meet Bandits players, take photos, and get autographs, while also redeeming their game tickets for free slot play (for attendees aged 21 and older).

This special night promises to foster community connections and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous peoples in the region, ensuring a memorable experience for all attendees.
