The Milwaukee Bucks have continued to enhance their roster following significant moves earlier this week. As reported by Shams Charania of ESPN, the team has agreed to a two-year contract with free agent swingman Gary Harris, which is expected to be a minimum-salary deal. This contract will also feature a player option for the second year.
Gary Harris, 30, has experienced a decline in playing time during his recent tenure with the Orlando Magic, where he averaged just 14.8 minutes per game while contributing 3.0 points and 1.3 rebounds over 48 appearances in the 2024/25 season. Nevertheless, Harris boasts a solid background, having played key roles as a three-and-D wing with the Denver Nuggets from 2014 to 2021 and then with the Magic. Throughout his 11-year career, he has maintained an average of 4.0 three-point attempts per game, hitting 36.9% of those shots, including a notable 38.8% since joining Orlando as part of the Aaron Gordon trade.
Despite his limited playing time, Harris was recognized by teammates for his defensive performance, indicating that he still possesses valuable skills on the court. His addition to the Bucks comes as part of a flurry of activity for the team, which has also succeeded in re-signing key players such as Bobby Portis, Kevin Porter Jr., Taurean Prince, and Gary Trent Jr. Furthermore, they managed to secure a surprise four-year deal with Myles Turner while letting go of Damian Lillard to facilitate better cap flexibility.
The Bucks appear to be strategically focused on strengthening their lineup, and acquiring Harris could lead to enhanced depth and experience, bolstering their chances for a successful upcoming season.
