Buc-ee’s is making significant strides towards establishing its presence in Tallahassee, having officially acquired over 30 acres of land for its new gas station, which is expected to be the largest in the world. Meyer Development announced the acquisition of the property located at the Park Place site, situated northwest of the I-10 and Capital Circle NW intersection. The announcement was made by Heather Richmond, Vice President of Real Estate for Meyer Development, LLC, on LinkedIn, prompting a wave of excitement across social media platforms.
Leon County Commissioner Rick Minor highlighted the economic implications of this development, stating that Buc-ee’s will likely serve as an economic catalyst for the region. He expressed optimism about the potential for additional commercial enterprises and job creation in the area. “The I-10 / Capital Circle NW intersection is a great location for additional commercial development,” Minor remarked, reinforcing the project’s potential to spur growth in Leon County.
While details about the Buc-ee’s project remain under wraps, Richmond confirmed that the rest of the Park Place project could allow for further commercial and residential developments. The site is currently zoned for various residential options, including single-family homes, multi-family units, and townhouses, although Meyer Development plans to sell land parcels rather than constructing these properties themselves. The zoning also accommodates commercial ventures, which could include retail services or dining establishments.
As for the timeline, the exact date for Buc-ee’s ground-breaking is yet to be determined. However, Minor anticipates that construction could begin in early 2026, with hopes for the grand opening of the new Buc-ee’s location by mid-2027. The project aims to generate approximately 200 full-time jobs with competitive wages ranging from $16 to $32 per hour for entry-level positions, and salaries for managerial roles reaching up to $100,000.
The journey of Buc-ee’s to Tallahassee began back in February when a permit was filed in Leon County. This highly anticipated addition will mark the third Buc-ee’s store in Florida. The community looks forward to the new opportunities and experiences that this iconic convenience store will bring to the area.
