Bruins Unveil Vintage-Inspired Jersey for Centennial Celebration

The Boston Bruins are gearing up to celebrate the centennial of their inaugural NHL game with a newly designed jersey. The team announced the special commemorative uniform on Thursday, in anticipation of their December 1 game against the Montreal Canadiens. The Bruins played their first game against the Montreal Maroons on this date in 1924, winning 2-1 at Northeastern’s Matthews Arena.

The new jersey design takes inspiration from the styles of the 1980s, albeit with some updates. According to a press release from the team, the uniform features dipped gold sleeves and socks, along with a modern interpretation of classic striping, honoring previous Bruins players who wore the Spoked-B.

Notable details include a special design on the jersey’s collar and bottom hemline. The collar showcases the score of the Bruins’ inaugural game—Boston Bruins 2, Montreal Maroons 1—while the bottom hem features the team’s core values: tradition, grit, passion, and heart, symbolizing the team’s commitment to these principles in the years ahead.

Bruins president Cam Neely expressed the significance of the Centennial Game, highlighting the importance of the jersey’s design for both fans and players. “These are the values that we have embodied for a century and will carry with us for the next generation, which starts December 1,” Neely stated.

While the Bruins have previously sported various alternate jerseys, often for special games like the Winter Classic, it is yet undetermined if this Centennial Game jersey will join the team’s regular lineup.
