Browns Rookie in Hot Water: Domestic Violence Charges Filed

Cleveland Browns rookie defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. has been arrested and charged with domestic violence following an altercation with his fiancée.

On Tuesday, Hall was apprehended after police reported that he threatened his fiancée with a firearm during a dispute. He was subsequently booked and arraigned at Avon Lake Municipal Court. Hall posted bond and was released, according to Avon Police public information officer James M. Drozdowski.

In court, Hall was represented by attorney Kevin Spellacy, who has not yet commented on the situation. The Browns released a statement acknowledging their awareness of the incident involving Hall, who was drafted in the second round from Ohio State.

“Mike and his representatives have been in touch with the appropriate authorities,” the team stated. “We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this time.”

As the Browns did not practice on Tuesday, players were engaged in treatment and workouts at the team’s training facility in Berea, Ohio. The team is scheduled for joint practices with the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by an exhibition game on Saturday.

An incident report reveals that police responded to a call around 10 p.m. on Monday from a woman claiming that Hall had assaulted her daughter and struck her with a baby bottle. The woman, who is engaged to Hall and shares an 11-month-old daughter with him, stated that their disagreement heightened as they discussed financial support for the child, despite Hall not being the biological father.

According to the woman, Hall, 21, became more agitated, disposing of her belongings outside and dragging her along the ground. At one point, she alleged Hall placed a gun to her head and threatened, “I will (expletive) end it all. I don’t care.”

The woman declined medical attention after the incident. Hall reportedly locked her out of their home before leaving in a pickup truck.

Upon arriving at the scene, police collected evidence including a damaged door frame and a hole in a door that Hall purportedly punched. Officers also retrieved two firearms—a .40-caliber Glock and a 9mm Smith & Wesson.
