Browns Acquire Cam Robinson to Bolster O-Line Ahead of London Clash

The Cleveland Browns are making moves to address their struggling offensive tackle situation by acquiring Cam Robinson from the Houston Texans. The trade involves a swap of late-round picks in the 2027 draft, with Cleveland sending their sixth-round pick to Houston in exchange for a seventh-round selection.

Cam Robinson, initially a second-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2017, has played three games with the Texans this season but only started in the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams. After contributing on special teams in subsequent games, he was inactive for Houston’s Week 4 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Robinson’s career path includes a mid-season trade to the Minnesota Vikings in 2024, following an injury to Christian Darrisaw. Now, he joins the Browns, who are grappling with injuries and inconsistencies on their offensive line.

The Browns have experienced significant challenges in maintaining an effective tackle lineup. Left tackle Dawand Jones has been on injured reserve since late September due to a torn lateral collateral ligament and hamstring injury, while right tackle Jack Conklin has been sidelined for most of the season due to an eye and subsequent elbow injury. This has necessitated frequent changes in their starting offensive line.

Cornelius Lucas has filled in for Conklin, allowing 28 pressures and two sacks thus far, while KT Leveston, a recent acquisition from the Rams, has taken over for Jones. The addition of Robinson is expected to bring veteran stability to the left tackle position, especially if Conklin makes a timely return from his elbow injury.

The Browns’ interior line remains intact with Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller positioned at guard and Ethan Pocic at center. Robinson’s experience, totaling 102 starts out of 104 career games primarily at left tackle, could prove invaluable for the Browns as they seek to solidify their protection on the line.

As the Browns prepare to face the Minnesota Vikings in London during Week 5, this strategic move aims to enhance their offensive line, supporting aspirations for improvement amidst the challenges faced early in the season. The team and fans are hopeful that Robinson can help bring much-needed stability and performance to the offensive line.
