Egor Dëmin, the Brooklyn Nets’ promising rookie guard, is making headlines for his exceptional performance on the court this season. The former BYU standout is emerging as one of the NBA’s elite 3-point shooters, currently hitting 39.7% of his attempts from beyond the arc. His skills have garnered attention, placing him among the league’s top 50 players for 3-point makes per game, averaging 2.5.
Remarkably, Dëmin has made at least one 3-pointer in 33 consecutive games, tying him with Rudy Fernandez and Landry Shamet for the longest streak for a rookie in league history. If he manages to sink a shot from 3 against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday, he will take sole possession of that record.
In January alone, Dëmin has shown outstanding consistency, hitting multiple triples in 11 of 12 games, including a standout performance where he made five 3-pointers on three different occasions. This success has led him to shoot an impressive 46.8% from long range during the month. With 98 made 3-pointers already this season, he trails only fellow rookie Kon Knueppel of the Charlotte Hornets for the most 3s made through a player’s first 40 games in NBA history.
Reflecting on his transformation, Dëmin acknowledged a significant improvement from his college days at BYU, where he had an overall 3-point shooting percentage of just 27.3%. “Obviously coming from the last season with 25 percent from the 3 in college to whatever I have right now (has me) feeling very, very confident in that aspect of the game,” he noted.
Adding to his accolades, Dëmin was recently selected to participate in the NBA Rising Stars event during the league’s All-Star festivities, marking the first time a former BYU player has been involved in NBA All-Star Weekend since Shawn Bradley in 1994.
Drafted as the No. 8 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Dëmin is quickly becoming a cornerstone for the Brooklyn Nets’ future, averaging 10.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists across 40 games. During his single season at BYU, he averaged 10.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.5 assists, earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors and helping lead the Cougars to their first Sweet 16 appearance since 2011.
Dëmin and the Nets are set to take on the Utah Jazz this Friday night in Salt Lake City, and fans will be eagerly watching as he continues his rookie campaign filled with promising potential.
