Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds was shot in Denver last Friday, according to the team. In a statement released Thursday, the Broncos confirmed, “Josh Reynolds was a victim of a shooting on Friday in Denver and received treatment for minor injuries. Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities.”
Reports indicate that Reynolds was leaving a strip club when he was shot, sustaining injuries to his left arm and the back of his head, based on court documents obtained by a local affiliate. The Denver Police Department stated that two suspects were arrested following the incident.
According to police, at approximately 3:12 a.m. on October 18, 2024, officers responded to reports of a shooting on southbound Interstate 25 south of Colorado Boulevard. The two adult male victims were traveling in a vehicle when the shooting occurred and eventually pulled over on the shoulder of the highway. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The two suspects, identified as Burr Charlesworth and Luis Mendoza, are being held for investigation of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.
Currently, Reynolds is on the injured reserve list due to a finger injury and will not be eligible to play in the upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The eighth-year player was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft from Texas A&M and has also played for the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans before joining the Broncos this offseason. In five games this season, he has accumulated 183 receiving yards and one touchdown.
