The Broncos are set to join the Pac-12 Conference starting July 1, 2026, pending approval from the Idaho State Board of Education. Alongside Boise State, the restructured conference will feature existing members Oregon State and Washington State, as well as newcomers Colorado State, Fresno State, and San Diego State. The new conference competition will kick off during the 2026-27 academic year.

He acknowledged the collective efforts of university leaders and emphasized that the decision was made with the best interests of the student-athletes and the community in mind. Dickey noted that this transition positions Boise State for future success, providing new opportunities for storytelling, recruitment, and revenue generation, while aiming to enhance the university’s national reputation through athletic excellence.
Pac-12 Commissioner Teresa Gould and the conference’s Board of Directors assessed each university’s application based on five key criteria, focusing on academic and athletic performance, brand evaluation, commitment to athletic success, logistical considerations, and the welfare of student-athletes.
