Broncos Receiver Shot: Details Emerge from Late-Night Incident

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds was among two individuals injured in a shooting incident in Denver early Friday morning.

According to a statement from the team, “Josh Reynolds was a victim of a shooting Friday in Denver and received treatment for minor injuries. Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities.”

Police reports reveal that Reynolds and another man were found near South Quebec Street and East Union Avenue following multiple 911 calls regarding gunfire. Reynolds suffered gunshot wounds, with bullets hitting him in the left arm and the back of his head.

Team sources confirmed that Reynolds received medical treatment and was discharged from a hospital in the Denver area a few hours later.

The 29-year-old athlete was unavailable for comment but has been attending team activities at the Broncos’ facility this week, including on Thursday. Currently on injured reserve due to a finger surgery, Reynolds did not travel with the team for their game against the Saints on October 17.

Police reports indicate that Reynolds and two others had been at Shotgun Willie’s, a strip club in Glendale, Colorado, departing around 2:45 a.m. Friday. After leaving in an SUV, they reported being followed by several vehicles before shots were fired.

The SUV they were in eventually became inoperable on Interstate 25, and the occupants exited the vehicle. Police later discovered the SUV with numerous bullet holes. A third man in Reynolds’ party, who was not in the SUV, sustained injuries from broken glass but was not shot.

Authorities have arrested two suspects in relation to the shooting: Burr Charlesworth, 42, and Luis Mendoza, 35. Both are being held for investigation on charges of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. According to police documents, Mendoza allegedly followed Reynolds and his companions out of the strip club.
