Brock Lesnar’s Comeback Dreams Dashed: What’s Behind the Ban?

Brock Lesnar’s potential return to mixed martial arts or professional wrestling seems increasingly unlikely. Former UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has revealed that Lesnar is currently banned from competing, which adds a significant barrier to any prospects of a comeback in UFC or WWE.

Cormier shared this information during a conversation with Demetrious Johnson, stating, “Brock is on the banned list right now. Brock got into so much trouble. You know what Brock did.” He did not disclose the specifics behind the ban, though it has been noted that Lesnar was implicated in last year’s trafficking lawsuit involving former WWE owner Vince McMahon.

Previously, there had been discussions about a potential match between Lesnar and Cormier for the UFC heavyweight title, especially after Lesnar infamously stormed the cage to confront Cormier following Cormier’s victory over Stipe Miocic in 2018. However, it appears that Lesnar’s lucrative deal with WWE has shaped his career choices. Cormier noted, “WWE paid him more to stay… he made the best choice,” indicating that Lesnar’s star power in WWE allowed him to command higher fees for fewer physical demands compared to returning to the UFC.

At 48, Lesnar has not been active in WWE since the summer of 2023, leaving many fans wondering about his future in combat sports altogether.

While the news may disappoint his fans, it underscores the challenges and complexities athletes face as they navigate the twilight of their careers. Lesnar’s legacy as a crossover star in both sports remains intact, and his past performances continue to resonate with fans.
