Darren Criss earned his first nomination this year for his role as Oliver in the Broadway production Maybe Happy Ending, while Renée Elise Goldsberry is celebrated for her Tony-winning portrayal of Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton. The Tony Awards are produced through a collaboration of Tony Award Productions, American Theatre Wing, The Broadway League, and White Cherry Entertainment, with Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss as executive producers and showrunners. Weiss will also direct the production, which has been a staple on CBS since 1978.
This year’s awards promise to celebrate the vibrancy and creativity of Broadway, with both seasoned and new talents in the spotlight, making it an event that theater enthusiasts won’t want to miss.
