Bridgerton Season 4: Meet the New Leading Lady in Benedict’s Love Story!

The popular series Bridgerton has cast Yerin Ha as Sophie Beckett, the romantic lead for Benedict Bridgerton, portrayed by Luke Thompson, in the forthcoming fourth season of Shonda Rhimes’ Netflix show.

Sources have informed Deadline that Ha will depict Sophie Beckett, who is featured in a slow burning romance with Benedict in Julia Quinn’s novel, An Offer From a Gentleman, which Season 4 will be based on.

According to Netflix’s official description, “The fourth season of Bridgerton centers on the bohemian second son, Benedict. While both his elder and younger brothers are happily married, Benedict is resistant to finding love until he encounters a mesmerizing Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”

This Lady in Silver is none other than Sophie. In the novel, she is the daughter of an earl and his maid, raised in his household out of a sense of duty, yet never formally recognized as part of the family, leading to a challenging upbringing due to her stepmother and stepsisters.

While the search for Benedict’s romantic partner is the main focus of the third novel, the series has altered the order of events, with Season 3 adapting the fourth book, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, which highlights the romance between Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton, and Penelope Featherington, played by Nicola Coughlan.

The announcement of Sophie’s casting was highly awaited, particularly after Netflix confirmed in July that the fourth season would be dedicated to her love story with Benedict.

The finale of Season 3 hinted at the impending romance, as Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who is traveling to Scotland with Francesca, assures she will return for their mother’s distinguished masquerade ball. This moment sparked speculation, as it is at this event that Sophie and Benedict first meet.

Yerin Ha is recognized for her role as Kwan Ha in the live-action adaptation of Halo, where she featured for two seasons. She is also set to star in the upcoming Max prequel series Dune: Prophecy, debuting on the platform in November. Her other works include various Australian productions and an independent horror film titled Sissy.
