Gary Sanchez is returning to the Milwaukee Brewers after reports confirm that the team has signed the veteran catcher to a one-year deal worth $1.75 million. This signing was announced by Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
Sanchez, who is 33 years old and from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, previously played for the Brewers in 2024. His most recent season in 2025 was with the Baltimore Orioles, where he participated in 29 games. During that time, he posted a batting average of .231, contributing 21 hits, five home runs, and 24 runs batted in, alongside an OPS of .715 over 91 at-bats.
A two-time All-Star, Sanchez began his career with the New York Yankees, spending seven of his 11 seasons with the team. He has had stints with the Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, and San Diego Padres throughout his career. To date, he has accumulated 657 hits, 189 home runs, and 509 runs batted in over 859 games, holding a career batting average of .224 and an OPS of .770.
Sanchez’s return to the Brewers adds valuable depth to their roster, particularly at the catching position, where he will be joining Reese McGuire to support William Contreras as the primary backstop. This move reflects the Brewers’ commitment to strengthening their team as they head into the new season, demonstrating a strategic approach to enhance their performance on the field.
