Bretman Rock recently shared his thoughts on a disappointing encounter with fellow Filipino-American celebrity Vanessa Hudgens during an episode of the “Sweet or Savory Podcast,” hosted by AJ Rafael and Alyssa Navarro. When asked about his most underwhelming celebrity experience, Bretman quickly mentioned Hudgens, stating, “I don’t like her.”

He recounted their meeting at Coachella a few years back, where both were guests of the brand SugarBear. Bretman explained that he was attempting to attract the attention of the SugarBear CEO by waving his hand, but Hudgens misinterpreted his actions. “She looks at me and tries to hide,” Bretman recalled, making it clear that he was not there to greet her. He further expressed his allegiance to the character Sharpay from the “High School Musical” franchise, emphasizing that he was not a fan of Hudgens.

Bretman reflected on the awkwardness of the encounter, questioning why she felt the need to hide from him. “You’re not above me, I’m not under you, and that’s just that on that,” he declared. He highlighted the importance of solidarity among fellow Filipinos, adding, “I’m literally like, damn, I’m Filipino, you can’t even like your own people.”

Interestingly, Hudgens was appointed as the Global Tourism Ambassador for the Philippines in 2023. Meanwhile, Bretman made headlines for his recent visit to the country, during which he actively promoted Filipino culture and tourism through his vibrant social media content.

While their personal encounter may not have gone as hoped, both celebrities continue to hold significant influence in their respective spheres. Bretman’s candid remarks shed light on the importance of cultural representation and camaraderie among artists, especially those sharing the same heritage.
