The Atlanta Braves have made a strategic move to bolster their pitching lineup by re-signing right-handed reliever Tyler Kinley to a one-year contract worth $3 million, which includes a club option for the 2027 season. This contract reflects the team’s confidence in Kinley, especially after his impressive performance upon joining the Braves mid-season last year.

In the 2024 season, Kinley showcased his talent by posting a remarkable 0.72 ERA over 25 innings, contributing to a perfect 5-0 record during his time with the Braves. Overall, across 73 games played for both the Braves and the Colorado Rockies, the 34-year-old finished the season with a 6-3 record and a 3.96 ERA. Notably, during his stint with the Braves, he accumulated an impressive 1.3 bWAR, underscoring his impact on the team’s success.

Kinley distinguished himself by ranking in the 100th percentile among qualified pitchers for hard-hit rate, surrendering only 29.6% of hard-hit balls. This efficiency on the mound makes him a valuable asset as the Braves look to solidify their bullpen.

To make space for Kinley on the roster, Atlanta designated left-handed pitcher Ken Waldichuk for assignment.

As the Braves prepare for the upcoming season, with spring training set to begin on February 21 and the home opener scheduled for March 27 against the Kansas City Royals, the decision to retain Kinley signals their commitment to building a competitive roster capable of contending in the 2026 season. With a solid track record and proven ability to perform under pressure, Kinley’s return could be a significant factor for the Braves’ success in the upcoming campaign.
