Braves Manager Snitker Steps Down, Moves to Advisory Role

Brian Snitker is stepping down as the manager of the Atlanta Braves, marking the end of an era for the beloved leader. At 69 years old, Snitker has had an illustrious career with the Braves, culminating in a World Series victory in 2021. He completed his ninth season as Atlanta’s manager and has been a part of the organization for nearly five decades.

During his tenure, Snitker led the Braves to an impressive 811 victories, clinching six National League East division titles and making seven trips to the postseason. He has been recognized as a four-time finalist for the National League Manager of the Year award, winning it in 2018. His legacy is solidified as he leaves the franchise with the third-most wins in its history, following the iconic Bobby Cox and Frank Selee.

In a reflective moment after Sunday’s season finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Snitker shared his thoughts on his future, noting he was still assessing his options as his contract approached expiration. “I’ve teetered on the fence about retirement,” he acknowledged, expressing his uncertainty while also focusing on the present. Despite the Braves finishing fourth in the National League East with a record of 76-86, which marks their first absence from playoff contention since 2017, Snitker remains optimistic.

Braves general manager and president of baseball operations, Alex Anthopoulos, previously stated that Snitker would always be a “Brave for life.” Looking ahead, it has been confirmed that he will transition to an advisory role within the organization next season.

Adding to his accolades, Snitker is set to be inducted into the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame before a home game in the 2026 season, further cementing his legacy within the franchise. His contributions to the team and the community are sure to be celebrated as he embarks on this new chapter in his career.
