Former quarterback showcased his skills in a different discipline than the one he used to practice.
Tom Brady recently made headlines during a panel discussion at Fanatics Fest in New York, where he playfully criticized New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. While speaking alongside ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, Brady randomly mentioned Jones in the context of a hypothetical interception, eliciting laughter from the audience.
Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is set to become the lead analyst for Fox’s NFL broadcasts. He will work alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt.
During the discussion, the duo talked about how Brady would approach comments about quarterbacks while broadcasting games. He noted that while he might be tempted to say something blunt like “That was terrible,” he refrained from doing so on television due to the presence of families and fans.
Brady explained, “If I threw a really bad interception, I’d go to the bench and say, ‘You’re the worst quarterback in the world. How could you make that throw? Terrible!’ But I don’t want to be that critical because I don’t always know the specifics of what went wrong on that play.”
Brady’s history with the Giants isn’t particularly positive, having lost two Super Bowls to Eli Manning in 2007 and 2011, including the infamous 2007 season where the Giants stopped the Patriots from a perfect season.
As for Jones, he is entering his sixth season with the Giants, struggling through an injury-plagued 2023 in which he posted two touchdown passes and six interceptions before suffering a torn ACL in November. He is expected to return to the field in the upcoming preseason game against the Houston Texans.
