Missouri football quarterback Brady Cook made his return to the game against Auburn late in the third quarter after dealing with a leg injury sustained during the first drive. Following the injury, Cook spent time in the locker room and on the sidelines.
Earlier in the quarter, Cook was seen warming up on the sidelines while backup quarterback Drew Pyne had just led a drive that resulted in a field goal for Missouri. Cook emerged from the south end-zone tunnel wearing his helmet and began throwing passes on the sidelines. A team spokesperson had indicated at halftime that Cook was considered “unlikely to return.”
Pyne took charge of the offense during the second quarter, and it appeared he would finish the game for Missouri. Additionally, running back Nate Noel is also unlikely to return, according to the team representative.
Chris Gervino from Tiger Radio Network reported that Cook was getting his ankle re-taped and was attempting to come back. However, he did not return from the locker room at the start of the second quarter. Cook initially left the game after the first play of the first drive due to an apparent leg injury while the team was in field goal range.
Drew Pyne replaced Cook after he exited to the locker room. Missouri managed to score a field goal on the opening drive, which featured only one play without Cook. Further complicating matters, tight end Brett Norfleet also left the game with a shoulder injury later in the first quarter and has not returned since heading to the locker room, although he had initially re-entered the game during the first half.
