As temperatures rise today, many regions will feel the heat with highs reaching around 30 degrees Celsius. This warm weather comes after a cooler day yesterday, where clouds and rain provided a brief respite from the summer heat.

Meteorologist Kim Min-ji reports that while the current temperatures in Seoul and Daejeon are around 21.2 and 20.5 degrees Celsius respectively, midday readings are expected to climb to 29 degrees in Seoul, 30 degrees in Jeonju, and 31 degrees in Daegu. The high humidity will contribute to a muggy atmosphere, so it’s advisable to wear lightweight clothing suitable for warm weather.

In the morning, light rain of less than 5mm is anticipated in southern parts of Gangwon and Chungcheong provinces. However, as the day progresses, sudden showers are likely to occur, especially in inland areas, so carrying an umbrella is recommended. The forecast predicts rainfall of 5-20mm in Gangwon and Chungcheong, with southern regions potentially receiving 30-40mm of rain.

Strong winds are also on the horizon, particularly in the mountains of Gangwon and northeastern Gyeongbuk, where gusts could reach up to 20 meters per second. Residents are urged to be cautious and ensure the safety of outdoor structures and activities.

Looking ahead, the heat will persist, with temperatures hovering around 30 degrees for the foreseeable future. Tomorrow is expected to be clear nationwide, but clouds are set to return by Thursday, bringing potential rain to the central regions and Jeju. Friday may see even broader rainfall across the country, marking the possibility of the season’s first monsoon rains in inland areas.

This weather update highlights the importance of staying hydrated and prepared for sudden weather changes as summer advances.
