Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis has been arrested in Florida on a domestic violence charge, occurring nearly a month after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend on Father’s Day. The 30-year-old boxing champion was taken into custody on Friday in Miami Beach and is currently being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County.

Accusations against Davis stem from an incident on June 15, when he reportedly visited his former girlfriend’s home in Doral to pick up their two children. An argument escalated, leading to a physical confrontation in which he allegedly struck the woman in the back of the head and slapped her, resulting in a minor cut to her lip. During the altercation, the victim managed to text her mother, who subsequently observed her daughter distressed and engaged in a dispute with Davis. The mother recorded cellphone footage, which reportedly captured Davis throwing a small box at the victim.

Davis, who declined to sign a Miranda warning when questioned by authorities, has been charged with battery causing bodily harm. His bond is yet to be determined.

This arrest adds to a troubling history of legal issues for Davis. In 2020, he faced charges after an incident at a basketball game, where video evidence revealed him forcibly removing the mother of his child from her seat. Although he turned himself in and denied the allegations, this highlighted a pattern of concerning behavior. In a separate domestic dispute in 2022, another woman accused him of slapping her, but she later recanted her statement. Furthermore, Davis plead guilty to multiple traffic offenses in 2023, connected to a hit-and-run incident in Baltimore that caused injuries to several individuals, including a pregnant woman, resulting in a sentence that included 90 days of house arrest.

Prior to these legal troubles, Davis maintained an impressive professional record of 30 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw, with 28 knockouts. He was reportedly preparing for a rematch with Lamont Roach Jr. in Las Vegas on August 16, following their controversial draw in March. However, this recent arrest raises significant doubts about his boxing schedule and future career pursuits.

This situation continues to evolve, prompting discussions on accountability and the impact of personal conduct on professional athletes. It remains to be seen how this incident will affect Davis’ career in the ring and whether he can reconcile his legal troubles with his boxing ambitions.
