Boston Marathon 2026 Jacket Returns to Tradition with Unicorn Emblem

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has officially unveiled the eagerly awaited 2026 Boston Marathon celebration jacket, reflecting a return to the classic design elements that have characterized the historic event. Following criticism over last year’s less popular “Lucid Blue” design and an overly prominent Bank of America logo, the B.A.A. has embraced a more traditional aesthetic. The new jacket is a tribute to the marathon’s iconic royal blue and yellow color scheme, featuring a stitched logo that embodies the event’s rich history.

A promotional video showcasing the 2026 jacket presents the embroidered unicorn emblem—an enduring symbol of the Boston Marathon—now enhanced with the Bank of America logo, under the nostalgic slogan “stitched in history.” To add a touch of fun, the phrase “Catch me if you can” appears on the sleeve, making the jacket appealing. Early reactions have been largely positive, especially considering the feedback received after last year’s design. One fan expressed satisfaction by stating, “They got the memo,” while others praised the B.A.A. for their responsiveness to runner feedback.

The retail price for the jacket is set at $120, and it is available for purchase online exclusively in the U.S. This jacket continues the tradition initiated in 1991, with Adidas producing this highly sought-after item for marathon participants and enthusiasts.

The B.A.A. has also made strides in enhancing the overall marathon experience. In 2025, the organization drew attention for its reimagined marathon medal, which featured a striking glossy gold, embossed unicorn design on a white background, a notable upgrade from the previous year’s less well-received medal.

As anticipation builds for the 130th Boston Marathon, scheduled for April 20, 2026, the B.A.A. has recently confirmed that the race’s cutoff time will be set at 4 minutes and 34 seconds. Of the impressive 33,267 applicants—marking the second-highest application count in the marathon’s history—only 24,362 runners will be granted entry, leaving over 8,900 athletes who met the qualifying time without a place in the prestigious event.

The B.A.A.’s continuous efforts to enhance the Boston Marathon experience resonate positively with runners and fans alike, contributing to what promises to be a memorable 2026 event.
