CBS’s upcoming spinoff, Boston Blue, will feature a character from the long-running series Blue Bloods, portrayed by a new actor. Mika Amonsen, known for his work in Thanksgiving, has been cast as Sean Reagan, previously played by Andrew Terraciano throughout Blue Bloods’ 14 seasons.

The new series follows Danny Reagan, played by Donnie Wahlberg, as he transitions from the NYPD to the Boston Police Department. The cast also includes notable actors such as Sonequa Martin-Green, Gloria Reuben, Ernie Hudson, Maggie Lawson, and Marcus Scribner. Amonsen’s character, Sean, has also moved to Boston to become a patrolman with the Boston PD. His story reflects a desire to uphold his family legacy on his own terms, allowing him to forge a deeper connection with his father as they reunite in this new setting.

Boston Blue was officially ordered by CBS in February, shortly after the conclusion of Blue Bloods. While it is produced by CBS Studios, the spinoff will be driven by a new creative team, including showrunners Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, alongside executive producers Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed.

Mika Amonsen has made his mark in other series such as Reacher, Murdoch Mysteries, and Suits, and is represented by Daniel Abrams and Adam Levine.

This new project represents a continuation of familiar familial themes while exploring new dynamics within the world of law enforcement. Fans of Blue Bloods can look forward to seeing how these characters evolve in Boston Blue.
