McDonald’s Boo Buckets, a cherished Halloween tradition, are making their comeback for 2024 with some new designs.
The iconic Halloween pails will return to Happy Meals starting in mid-October, as announced by the Chicago-based fast-food chain. This year, the Boos Buckets will showcase a “refresh” with new Monster designs available in white, orange, green, and an exciting new color, blue. Each bucket will also include themed stickers for an enhanced Halloween experience.
Originally introduced in 1986, the Boo Buckets became a staple of the Halloween season before disappearing for a time. After a notable absence, they made a return in 2022 with throwback designs and were again featured in 2023 with a mix of vintage styles, including Monster, Skeleton, Mummy, and a nod to the original with a purple Vampire bucket.
Speculation about new designs for 2024 had been circulating recently, prompting some fans on social media to express their wish for the original aesthetic. Comments from users reflected a desire for the nostalgic designs, with many stating, “it’s the nostalgia we want!”
On McDonald’s Instagram post announcing the return, several comments indicated disappointment with the new designs, urging the company to revert to the classic versions from the 90s. Despite some negative feedback, many commenters expressed excitement about the Boo Buckets returning.
The new Boo Buckets are set to become available at McDonald’s locations starting on October 15 and will be offered “while supplies last.”
