Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty scored a touchdown during a simulated matchup between Utah State and Boise State in the EA Sports College Football 25 video game.

With the release of EA Sports’ College Football 25, the Deseret News is simulating each Utah State game against FBS opponents for this season. As the Aggies prepare to enter Mountain West Conference play, they face a tough challenge, coming off a three-game losing streak. This weekend, Utah State will travel to play against the conference’s top team, Boise State.

The simulation executed by Deseret News featured a set of guidelines: 10-minute quarters and computer simulation without user interference. Adjustments were made to CPU ratings to enhance pass defense realism, lowering passing accuracy and raising defensive ratings. Injuries and depth chart changes were incorporated, but they had minimal impact in this simulation, as Utah State had benefited from a bye week.

In terms of uniforms, Utah State wore all-white, while Boise State donned their orange throwbacks with blue accents.

In a prior simulation against Temple, the simulated score showed Utah State defeating Temple 29-10, contrasting with the actual game’s outcome, where Temple won 45-29. This time, the simulation between Utah State and Boise State concluded with Boise State winning 24-6.

Key moments in the simulation included a crucial sequence late in the second quarter where the Aggies, trailing 17-0, failed to capitalize on a promising drive when they reached Boise State’s 1-yard line, ultimately being stopped by the Broncos’ defense.

Boise State opened strong, scoring on their first three possessions and establishing a 17-0 lead. Jeanty’s performance included critical contributions, including a 26-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter.

Utah State managed a touchdown early in the fourth quarter but struggled to put additional points on the board. Both teams exchanged lengthy drives thereafter, with Boise State successfully running out the clock.

Jeanty’s standout performance included 173 rushing yards, while Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Utah State’s Rahsul Faison rushed for 70 yards, and his teammate Kyrese White made significant catches, including a 75-yard touchdown.

Overall, the simulation pointed to a solid performance by the Broncos but fell short of expected scoring averages, raising questions about the realism of the results given Boise State’s historical scoring capability this season.
