Residents in Cheverly, Seat Pleasant, Capitol Heights, and surrounding areas are currently facing a boil water advisory due to a water main break near the Cheverly Metro station, as reported by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC).
The issues began when numerous residents reported experiencing low or nonexistent water pressure on Friday night. WSSC crews quickly pinpointed the leak and are actively working to halt the flow of water before commencing repairs.
In the meantime, individuals who have lost water service are advised to heat water to a rolling boil for one minute prior to consumption or use. Additionally, any recently stored water, drinks, or ice should be discarded to ensure safety.
To assist impacted customers, WSSC Water plans to establish a water distribution station later tonight, providing bottled water while assessing various locations for accessibility and safety.
