Boeing has announced a significant boost to its operations with new orders for up to 80 of its flagship 787 Dreamliner and 777 double-aisle aircraft from Japan Airlines and Korean Air. Brad McMullen, head of Boeing’s sales operations, expressed gratitude for the long-standing partnership with Japan Airlines, stating, “We value our long-standing partnership with Japan Airlines and are pleased that they have re-selected the 787 Dreamliner as they continue to modernize their world-class fleet.” Japan Airlines has committed to 10 Dreamliners with an option for an additional 10.
Korean Air has also made a notable commitment, ordering 20 of the 777-9 models and 20 787-10 aircraft, along with an option for 10 more 787-10s. This order highlights Boeing’s ongoing collaboration with Korean Air, which has predominantly operated Boeing jets for the past five decades. Stephanie Pope, head of Boeing’s commercial airplanes division, remarked, “We are honored Korean Air has selected our largest, most efficient widebody airplanes to add capacity to its global network,” emphasizing the integral role Boeing’s planes have played in the airline’s growth trajectory.
