Boeing Strikes Big with Dreamliner and 777 Orders at Farnborough!

Boeing has announced significant orders for its 787 Dreamliner and 777 double-aisle aircraft, securing commitments for up to 80 planes from Japan Airlines and Korean Air. This development comes amidst early announcements at the Farnborough International Airshow, an important event in the aviation industry. After facing competition from Airbus earlier this year, Boeing appears to be solidifying its position in the market.

Boeing’s sales operations head, Brad McMullen, expressed satisfaction with Japan Airlines’ decision to enhance its fleet, mentioning the importance of their long-standing partnership. Japan Airlines has committed to purchasing 10 Dreamliners, with an option for an additional 10, while Korean Air has ordered 20 units of the 777-9 model and 20 787-10 planes, also including an option for 10 more 787-10s.

This announcement highlights Boeing’s efforts to reclaim its market share after Airbus secured contracts with both airlines earlier this year. A report indicated that Japan Airlines had purchased 11 A321neo jets from Airbus for the first time, marking a notable shift in their purchasing strategy amid issues surrounding Boeing’s 737 Max.

Boeing’s Stephanie Pope, head of the commercial airplanes division, remarked on Korean Air’s selection of their aircraft, emphasizing the company’s longstanding relationship with the airline over the past 50 years. She highlighted that the 777X and 787 Dreamliner will play critical roles in supporting Korean Air’s sustainability and growth objectives.
