Randi Farrar, the owner of a former tea and herb shop in Houlton, Maine, has launched a new delivery service offering specialty boba iced teas after closing her downtown store earlier this year. Following customer feedback, Farrar obtained the necessary certifications, tested her well water, and invested in a larger vehicle to meet the growing demand. She has seen a surge in orders, often delivering over 100 iced teas in a single day.
To cater to this rising popularity, Farrar is now establishing a drive-through business, Randi’s Corner Perk, in nearby Hodgdon. Inspired by the fictional café Central Perk from the TV show “Friends,” the new drive-through will serve a variety of beverages, including her signature boba teas and coffee drinks alongside light food options like muffins and egg sandwiches.
The drive-through will be open during the fall, winter, and spring, featuring indoor seating for around 20 patrons once final occupancy is approved by the fire marshal. The building, constructed by Amish craftsmen, boasts a striking cobalt blue color with white trim, and Farrar is currently finalizing the drive-through design.
In addition to her boba teas, Randi’s Corner Perk will also feature Birch Bark Brews, a chaga tea brand that Farrar co-owns, along with other herbal products from her Lotus and Leaf business. The drive-through is anticipated to open by Thanksgiving, operating Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. After gauging local interest on social media, Farrar noted a significant response, especially as people prefer the convenience of staying in their cars during winter months.
