Fans of the beloved children’s animated series “Bluey” have reason to celebrate as a movie adaptation is set to hit theaters. The announcement was made on social media, featuring tags from BBC Studios, Disney, Disney+, and ABC.

Creator Joe Brumm shared the exciting news, revealing that he spent time away from the series but was inspired to write a feature script for “Bluey” that he is particularly proud of. He remarked on the significant processes involved in getting to this point, noting that a lot of contracting work was completed, paving the way for the animated film to move forward.

However, Brumm also touched on what he called “trifficult” news: his decision to step back from the television series to focus on this new venture. He emphasized his commitment to maintaining the quality of the show, stating that he wouldn’t want to continue in a role where he felt unable to match the excellence of previous seasons. The upcoming episode “The Sign” will serve as a fitting conclusion for him on the series.

In a press release, Brumm expressed his excitement for the movie, drawing on his positive experiences with longer formats in the third season. He believes that a theatrical release is a natural evolution for the franchise, aiming to create an engaging experience for families.

The film will feature familiar voices from the series, including Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack, along with music by composer Joff Bush. The movie is slated for a 2027 release in theaters, followed by availability on ABC iview and ABC Kids in Australia.

This announcement brings hope for “Bluey” fans, as they eagerly await the continued adventures of the charming blue dog and his family. The film promises to deliver delightful, family-friendly entertainment that could further enhance the legacy of this beloved series.
