Blues Unveil Bold New Uniform Design: A Fresh Look for Fans

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Blues recently unveiled a brand-new uniform, marking the first significant redesign of their iconic logo, the Blue Note, in nearly three decades. Defenseman Colton Parayko was the first player to model both the home blue and road white jerseys, expressing enthusiasm for their clean and modern design.

The major changes were revealed at the Enterprise Center, where the new uniforms feature updated colors and secondary logos, including a fleur-de-lis and symbols representing River Music. This redesign was inspired by the positive feedback received from the Blues’ Winter Classic jerseys in 2017, and the franchise hopes this fresh look will resonate with fans when it officially debuts in the 2025-26 season.

“Fans have been enthusiastic about heritage jerseys, and many expressed that they should become our primary uniforms,” said Blues chairman Tom Stillman. “We’re excited to bring a blend of the old and the new that respects the legacy of the St. Louis Blues.”

The redesign process began after the Blues’ outdoor game at Busch Stadium in 2017, following feedback from hockey legends like Brett Hull and Wayne Gretzky, who praised the team’s previous uniforms. In collaboration with the brand-building firm Rare Design, a comprehensive overhaul was developed. The changes include simplifying the Blue Note to a two-color scheme of blue and yellow, eliminating beige, and modernizing the overall look to enhance its digital appeal.

The new design eliminates beige from the road jersey as well, presenting a clean white look with solid color numbers for a bolder appearance. The inclusion of secondary symbols aims to deepen the team’s connection to its St. Louis roots while modernizing their brand identity.

While changes to such a well-established logo can be met with scrutiny, the Blues are optimistic about the response. “This was a good chance for us to move the brand forward without completely rebranding,” said Steve Chapman, a project lead. “We believe this refined design maintains the strong connection with our history and resonates well with our community.”

As excitement builds, the new gear officially went on sale, with first-round draft picks, including the expected No. 19 pick, anticipated to don the new jerseys during the NHL Draft this Friday.

The anticipation around the redesign reflects the loyalty of the Blues’ fan base, which is known for its pride and passion for the franchise. The team looks forward to receiving fan feedback and hopes the new designs will be embraced wholeheartedly when they take to the ice.
