Blues Land Calle Rosen in Midseason Defense Upgrade

ST. LOUIS, MO – In a strategic move, the St. Louis Blues’ President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced the acquisition of defenseman Calle Rosen from the Washington Capitals. This trade involved sending defenseman Corey Schueneman to Washington. Rosen will join the Blues’ AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.

Rosen, who is 31 years old, has been performing well in the AHL, tallying seven points (one goal and six assists) across nine games with the Hershey Bears this season. The Vaxjo, Sweden native has an extensive AHL career, marking 198 points (36 goals and 162 assists) along with 148 penalty minutes over 360 regular-season games.

Having made appearances in multiple NHL seasons, Rosen has spent significant time with the Blues. From 2021 to 2024, he played 73 games with St. Louis and 108 games with Springfield. In the previous season (2022-23), he achieved a career milestone, playing 49 games for the Blues and recording a personal best of 18 points (eight goals and ten assists).

This marks Rosen’s return to the Blues organization, further solidifying their defensive lineup as he looks to contribute positively in his second stint. In addition to this player transaction, the Thunderbirds have also traded forward Sam Bitten to the Hershey Bears for future considerations.

Fans can continue to support the Thunderbirds by purchasing single-game tickets and ticket memberships for the remaining games in the 2025-26 season, available through the team’s official website or by contacting their ticket office directly. This acquisition not only enhances the team’s depth but also showcases the proactive approach taken by the Blues’ management as they prepare for the current season.
