Blue Jays Make Bold Move: Berroa Heads to Dodgers!

The Toronto Blue Jays have officially traded outfielder Steward Berroa to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for cash considerations, as announced by the team on Monday. This move comes after Berroa, who had not yet appeared in a game for the Blue Jays this season, was designated for assignment on May 7.

Berroa made his debut with the Blue Jays in June 2024, appearing in 28 games and finishing with a .189 batting average, a .550 OPS, and contributing six stolen bases. He also served as a pinch-runner on several occasions during his time with the team. In the current season, while playing for Triple-A Buffalo, the 26-year-old recorded a .195 batting average and a .501 OPS, along with nine stolen bases.

Originally from the Dominican Republic, Berroa joined the Blue Jays as an international free agent in 2016 at the age of 17. This trade represents a strategic move for the Blue Jays as they continue to refine their roster and pursue their goals for the season.

While Berroa’s time with the Jays did not pan out as hoped, his speed on the bases remains a potential asset for the Dodgers, who may look to utilize his skills in specific game situations. Fans of both teams will be watching to see how this trade unfolds in the coming weeks.
