BLK has announced an expanded uniform sponsorship for the Police contingent participating in this year’s Sukuna Bowl, broadening its support from just rugby to include a variety of other sports. This year, the partnership reflects a significant enhancement as BLK aims to cover uniforms for the Police and Army rugby teams, as well as providing the Police with a comprehensive off-field apparel package.
Sales and Marketing Manager Donasiano Kalou highlighted the importance of this partnership, especially since the Police team is hosting the event. He elaborated that the sponsorship encompasses not only on-field kits for both the Police and Army rugby teams but extends to uniforms for other sports including boxing, cricket, touch rugby, women’s rugby, soccer, and Tug of War. “For the rugby team, we are providing them with one set, but then we have the other sports that we are also doing their uniforms,” Kalou noted, emphasizing that the primary focus remains on the rugby team.
This year’s Sukuna Bowl is set to commence next Monday, with boxing and cricket scheduled as the opening games. The initiative underscores BLK’s commitment to foster sporting excellence and unity within the community, mirroring similar trends of corporate sponsorship in local sports. Previous partnerships, such as those formed between BLK and various rugby unions, have exemplified the growing involvement of businesses in supporting athletic talent development in Fiji.
