Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds made headlines on Sunday with their first joint red carpet appearance amidst their ongoing legal dispute involving actor Justin Baldoni. The couple attended the “Saturday Night Live” 50th anniversary special in New York City, where they were seen happily posing for pictures together. Lively dazzled in a sparkling silver gown while Reynolds complemented her look in a classic tuxedo.
During the event, Reynolds participated in a Q&A sketch led by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. When questioned about how he was doing, he humorously replied, “Great. Why? What have you heard?” Their lighthearted demeanor at the event stood in contrast to the serious legal battles unfolding.
The legal troubles began in December when Lively filed a civil sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni, her co-star and director in “It Ends With Us.” In her lawsuit, she detailed incidents of a “hostile work environment” on set and raised allegations concerning “repeated sexual harassment and other disturbing behavior” by Baldoni. Lively also accused Baldoni’s public relations team of orchestrating a “social manipulation” campaign aimed at damaging her reputation.
Baldoni countered with a robust defense, denying the allegations and filing a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, and her publicist Leslie Sloane in January. Additionally, he initiated a $250 million libel suit against The New York Times for publishing what he claims were inaccuracies regarding the situation. A trial date has been scheduled for March 2026.
As the festivities of “Saturday Night Live’s” milestone anniversary unfold this season, Lively and Reynolds’ public appearance serves as a reminder of the resilience and unity often found in celebrity relationships despite personal challenges. Their ability to maintain a positive front suggests they remain strong amid the ongoing turmoil, allowing fans to hold on to hope for a favorable resolution in the future.
