Former NHL player and current TNT hockey analyst Paul Bissonnette was involved in a violent altercation at a steakhouse in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Sunday night. The incident began when Bissonnette attempted to intervene after a member of a group confronted the restaurant’s manager, who was taken aback by the aggressive behavior directed toward him after a friend of the assailant was asked to leave.
In a video posted on X, Bissonnette explained his decision to step in, noting that the atmosphere of the family-oriented restaurant lacked other patrons who could assist the manager. He stated that he warned the aggressive individual, “sir, if you’re going to assault and harass the staff, we’re going to have problems.” His intervention soon escalated into a physical confrontation, as several members of the group began throwing punches, resulting in a chaotic scene that migrated from inside the restaurant to the parking lot and even to a nearby store.
During the skirmish, Bissonnette reportedly suffered kicks to the head and several punches, while he personally engaged with the seven men involved. The altercation ended with Scottsdale police arresting six individuals on charges of assault and disorderly conduct.
Bissonnette, who played in the NHL from 2008 to 2014 and concluded his career with the Phoenix Coyotes, now works as a broadcaster, where he provides insights into the sport.
