The Buffalo Bills clinched a decisive 31-10 victory against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night, but the game was overshadowed by a concussion suffered by Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in the third quarter.
Tagovailoa attempted to convert a fourth down while Miami was trailing by 21 points when he collided head-first with Bills safety Damar Hamlin. His teammates urgently signaled for medical staff as he remained on the field. Although he walked off on his own, he was later ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Prior to Tagovailoa’s injury, the Dolphins were already struggling. Buffalo built their lead thanks in large part to three interceptions thrown by Tagovailoa. Running back James Cook shone for the Bills, scoring three touchdowns—two rushing and one receiving. Quarterback Josh Allen had a solid performance, completing 13 of 19 passes for 139 yards, while Cook rushed for 78 yards on 11 carries.
The focus now shifts to Tagovailoa, who has a history of concussions, having suffered two in the 2022 season, and was previously suspected of another concussion, leading to an overhaul of the NFL’s concussion protocol midseason.
With this win, the Bills improved to 2-0 and are set to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3. Meanwhile, the Dolphins dropped to 1-1 and will take on the Seattle Seahawks on September 22.
