Bills Edge Jets in Thrilling AFC East Showdown

The Buffalo Bills solidified their position at the top of the AFC East with a 23-20 victory over the New York Jets on ‘Monday Night Football’.

Tyler Bass secured the win with a 22-yard field goal with just over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, marking the only scoring for the Bills in the second half. Aaron Rodgers was intercepted during the Jets’ final drive, allowing Buffalo to run down the clock on their next possession.

The matchup was marked by a lack of precision, with both teams missing a total of four kicks—New York missed two field goals, while Buffalo failed to convert one field goal and one extra point. The game also saw an abundance of penalties, with the teams combining for 22 accepted infractions totaling 204 yards, the highest penalty yardage recorded in a game this season.

Buffalo’s quarterback, Josh Allen, finished with 19 completions on 25 attempts for 215 yards and threw for two touchdowns, in addition to scoring on the ground. The Bills’ rushing game was noteworthy, amassing 149 yards on 33 carries throughout the night.

On the other hand, Aaron Rodgers completed 23 of 35 passes for 294 yards and two touchdowns, marking his first game with under 300 passing yards since his time with the Green Bay Packers. Although Rodgers guided the Jets into the red zone four times, they only managed to score one touchdown during those drives.

New York’s Greg Zuerlein missed two field goal attempts that could have given the Jets the lead in the second half, from distances of 32 and 43 yards.

Following this victory, the Bills improved their record to 4-2, positioning themselves alone at the top of the division. Meanwhile, the Jets dropped to 2-4 and fell to third place, trailing the Miami Dolphins, who had a bye in Week 6. This game also marked the head coaching debut for Jeff Ulbrich after the dismissal of Robert Saleh on October 8.
